Mechanical Engineer

Position Summary:
This position is responsible for the mechanical design, prototyping and development of NEI’s analytical instrument product line. As a mechanical engineer, you will identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems and support other team members to evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability and safety.

Responsibility:
– Design, prototype, outsource, and evaluation of the analytical instrument/device, with focus on the mechanics such as the enclosure, layout, supporting structures and mechanical components.
– Modify the current design based on the customer needs and regulations.
– Confirm system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods.
– Support the safety certification, mechanical specification and regulation work.
– Support manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, assembling, and installing components.
– Support other projects as assigned.

Job Requirements:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering required (Master’s preferred)
– Proficient in one or more general design software including but not limited to: PTC Creo/Catia/Solidworks; CAD.
– Familiar to CNC/3D printing/molding and other common manufacturing techniques.
– Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills.
– Self-motivated.
– Experience in any of the instrument/device design, prototyping, outsourcing, manufacturing, quality analysis and process control is preferred.
– Proficient in Microsoft Office.

– Demonstrated, hands-on experience in gas chromatography is desired
– Experience working in a regulated lab environment (such as GLP or GMP) is preferred
– Desire to work in a laboratory based role as a bench chemist
– Have a strong attention to detail, with good organization and documentation skills
– Excellent interpersonal skills and self-driven motivation
– Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
